Steel Pipe Under Garage Door

I'm sure this isn't the only area this has been done, but why did they pour a steel pipe in a garage floor under the overhead door back in the day?
I'm assuming to stop water... in a F'd up way?
Dumb question,... but I just have to know!

Re: Steel Pipe Under Garage Door

Back in the Day anything metal would end up in pours. My guess is they thought they were strengthening the floor or it was a good place to get rid of it.

I do not know for sure but I would guess that it was so the edge would not break up.

I've probably only saw it 4-5 times around here but the pipe is about 1-1/2" in diameter, about half of that sticks out of the slab, + is located right under where the overhead door comes down

Kind of like a threshold interlock
to mate with the door bottom gasket.
