Seeding Concrete

Hey guys I do concrete polishing and have a customer who wants to seed the slab with marble chips, and then have me come in and polish it. I am not sure if his concrete guy is up to the task, has anyone done this that knows the proper procedure? Thanks

KC

If you check the Cheng book "concrete in the home" you'll find a description of the process.

I am sorry if I did not make myself clear, this is not a counter top, I am talking about seeding a 12,000 sq ft. building slab, which will than be polished.

Cheng has two books; one for counter tops and another for various concrete applications, including broadcasting color chips; as noted, it's called "concrete in the home."

Seeding Concrete

It sounds like you are looking for something similar to terrazzo, where the expensive aggregate is cast and worked in to minimize the high cost of imported aggregates that grind well.

Because of the size of aggregate desired for appearance, it is first ground to expose the larger faces and them polished. - Not speedy and requires experience and patience.

Big issue with doing it this way is getting the concentration of aggregate consistent through the floor. One of our suppliers came up with this idea instead of using the normal resin terrazzo but was utter garbage.
