Is It Profitable To Build Foundations With ICF's

In New Brunswick they are charging $85 per lineal foot for an 8 inch, 8' concrete wall. I am taking the Nudura course next week but would like to know if it is a profitable idea. Please comment.

ICF's are profitable IF you know how to sell them. Basements in eastern Canada are generally cold and usually damp (I lived there) ICF's is one factor in eliminating that problem.

$ 85.00 a l/f for PIP is a little over $ 10.00 per sq.ft. of wall space. With Nudura's engineering you usually use 6" ICF for basements (Depending on backfill height), you are going to cost more with ICF than PIP, but sell the features and benefits, like speed of construction, once you finish the build and pour, it's done, no having to strap and insulate. The basement will be much warmer and no musty smells. It is also the perfect opportunity to upsell ICF to the roof line, PIP guys don't do that, they sell a basement and move on.

Where you are located you are going to get a lot of interest. Just look, ICF is all around you.

I think Bird Stairs are the local distributor to you if I am not mistaken.

How serious are you about doing the trade? Are you planning on the investment in bracing? That is what sets you apart from the other cowboys in this business, everyone wants to do ICF but has no commitment. I think by purchasing the bracing it is the commitment you have made and will put you ahead of everyone else, plus your distributor will remember that big investment you made and he too will refer work your way.
