Concrete Vibrators

I'm normally a flat work guy but I ran into a couple of jobs that needed foundations and walls poured. I'm thinking that I may want to invest in a concrete vibrator. Does anyone have any suggestions on a brand or whether to get an electric or gas powered motor. What horsepower should I be looking at? I suspect I'll be using it mainly for residential pours. Thanks for the help.

I run a Mikasa with a 7/8 pencil head. Electric, it's a pain draging the cord, but then again, I don't drag it, employees do, I get the fun job holding the hose.

Re: Concrete Vibrators

We use a 8 foot with a 1 3/4 inch head and a 1 hp motor 90 percent of the time, electric. Then if needed we will us a long vibrator 20' or so for tall walls, the longer the more power the motor.

We found that gas powered gives you to many problems. Electric ones last for ever, but require a generator.

Re: Concrete Vibrators

Thanks guys, so basically your saying get an electric with at least a 1hp motor. I take it my head size is going to be determined by the thickness of the walls im dealing with. (no pun intended) I youtubed concrete virbator to see what guys were using on different pours and I couldn't believe all of the idiots who see how long they can hold on to one of those things by the head!
