Concrete Revetment Wall Price Q.

Hey guys!

I am in South Louisiana and am doing a job to pour a revetment wall 36 inches tall x 37 feet long x 8 inches. 18 inches below grade and 18 inches above ground...
I do not do this everyday, and I don't want to form a lower price standard in my area by pricing too low, so I wanted to see if you guys could help me out with a price. I understand you may not know what my standard is in my area, but a price you may charge could give me a better understanding.
  • 1/2 rebar at 4 inch ties
  • 3 yds concrete @ $550
  • the ground not hard at all (trenching the footing) $200
  • very accessible
  • 10 yrds of backfill dirt to the wall
  • no disposals
  • $30 permit
what would be a "off-the-cuff" price would you guys charge?

I know this question seems generic, and there are some amounts already listed, but I don't know what info is needed to formulate a labor charge. Ironic enough this job is in front of a Masonic Lodge

Thank you greatly!

Re: Concrete Revetment Wall Price Q.

If you're a trenching contractor I'd sub out the concrete to a poured wall contractor.

Why aren't the Masons building it? (LOL)

Don't know.

Although subbing this job to a poured wall contractor would seem logical, it is a job I can do myself without losing out on the payday.
I would like to give a good price and not undercut myself in the process, that is why I am here asking if there is a formula used for forming and pouring.

Again, thanks for your help.

Re: Concrete Revetment Wall Price Q.

There is only way to find out what the market price is. Ask a contractor that does that kind of work and may not want the job what it would be worth. Southern LA is much different than most areas for pricing because of the unique area.

Figure you own cost estimating the total labor hours, materials and equipment and use your own labor rate and what you pay others (actual cost with overhead). Use what you think you need in terms of hours and the material is easy. Then add your overhead.

Compare the two.

If the others are too low, use their price and mark it up. That way you will cover your time and let you look for more work.

You seem to have an inside track on the job, so you have to know what the market prices are to avoid getting a bad name. Then all you have to do is build your reputation.

Thanks, Dick, for your help.

Yes, the one thing I am concerned about is over charging this job. The lodge is on a limited budget and will probably give it to the lowest bidder and may compromise quality (unless they supervise)

These people are good people and I do not want to gouge in the name of a huge profit, because of everything they have done for our community, but I also have to pay for my services.

Again, thank you for your insight, Dick.
