Nice work, not sure what your motive is, but nice work!

Re: What Do You Think Of This Rendering?

Hey thanks guys. My motive was just to kind of show off a little, and to let people know what I can do.

I had just received the new Chief X2 and I really like what it can do. I don't have to export to Sketchup to get the look I want now, very cool.

The first is a water color feature and the second is a line drawing feature in Chief.
I love this program.

God Bless you for your talent.
I would like it better if the front elevation was 2 story, without the dormers and without the kink in the roof. It would be more spacious inside and more cost effective to build. Traditional Salt Box if you know what I mean.

I just got Archicad 11 and was wondering how long it takes to learn where you are somewhat proficient?

Everyone's learning curve will be different. You should be able to do most things in a few weeks to a month, but some small things will infuriate you for another year or so I'd guess until you learn the in's and out's. This also depends on how much you are practicing and how open you are and if you've worked with a BIM program before. CAD users seem to have a little more trouble getting used to it.

ArchiCad really does a lot of different things. You can get up and running with this basics fairly quickly and have some nice work but I've been using it a little over a year now and am still learning new things it will do.

The documentation that comes with it is only somewhat useful, imo. A great source of information from very experienced users can be found here:

http://archicad-talk.graphisoft.com/

I've learned more from these folks than I could have ever learned from the documentation or just fooling around with the application.

Thought I'd give a go at something more realistic than the previous sketches.

Critique as you like.

Re: What Do You Think Of This Rendering?

Hi Rick, what is the rendering engine that ArchiCAD uses?

I recently got the trial of ArchiCAD but I didn't have the time to put it through its paces as I wanted.

It is a nice little kitchen/office area but I think you need to put splashes of color in there somewhere. on the counter tops, walls, something.

The blue on the desk needs to go though.

Andy.

LOL @ the blue on the desk. I just did that to trip out my girlfriend. Should have changed it before I posted it here.

ArchiCAD has it's own internal rendering engine, but it also uses the Lightworks rendering engine which is what I used on these. It can also use Artlantis, but I don't have that so I don't know exactly how that works. The Lightworks engine, however, comes with it.
