Tile & Flooring Design Programs

I've been hunting around a bit for software to play around with- since I'm just getting started I'd really like to kick around some ideas here- as well as have something to be able to bring to prospects to get a little work to start out.

My first 4 rooms working by myself for half of them, the other half with a tile setter (10 yrs experience)...I need a program that I can throw a design up using tiles most readily available to me and something I won't necessarily have to go take pictures at THD of each tile- then load them up to the program- but hopefully download collections from the manufacturer (maybe I'm dreaming)...I don't really want to throw out a bunch of money on 20/20 and spend the next 3 or 4 months trying to teach myself that program...

Thanks in advance for any Help I can grab on this one

Re: Tile & Flooring Design Programs

I just noticed your thread from a few days ago, it's like a little lost orphan that no one wants to help.

I would suggest you try out the Better Homes and Gardens Pro version of Home Designer software, it's about $500.00 and there are a lot of things you can do with it.

It is made by Chief Architect and while you are at it look at what Chief Architect has to offer. They are selling a Designer's version of Chief that might be just right for your application.

Re: Tile & Flooring Design Programs

For those customers that I do estimates for and have no idea what they want, I make an appointment for the following day to meet at The Tile Shop or even the Florida Tile showroom. I usually get the same reaction: "wow, there's so much more stuff here than at Lowe's or Home Depot"
And they find what they like and we create the pattern there. If they want to see what it looks like at home, I take samples with me, and I'll usually follow them back. From there we arrange an install date and collect a deposit. It's a lot easier, better visual conception, and more "sales productive" than drawing designs.
