Smile software for cabinet design

I import Italian cabinets and currently use manufacturer provided program. The program is very baggy and doesn’t provide architectural quality drawings and renderings. I downloaded the trial of Revit and plan to do the 3d studio or VIZ next.
I make some progress with Revit and was able to design a nice family that able to model any type of simple door/drawer cabinet including bases, columns and wall cabinet, all in a single family. However, I have a long way to go and frankly don’t have that much time to mess with it. Any advice or help will be greatly appreciated.

I have used Revit extensively and what I consider architectural quality renderings, Revit won't do it. Especially with the built in renderer. Yes you can export to max, but you will run into quick trouble with curved surfaces being faceted and thus destroying your hope of a decent looking render.

max is obviously going to give you drop dead gorgeous renders, but I think you will find you will be building alot of parts. To knock the socks off, you'd need something like the VRay add-on.

Are you looking for materials list? Rendering capabilities?

Most people use 2020 and it does relatively decent renderings. Still an expensive investment. 2020 will have all your parts done, complete, nothing for you to do except download the updates.

Renderings

Thank you framerman, I will be getting Vray as you had suggested. Do you have any revit families or Vray materials you could share with me (tips and tricks are appreciated as well)? Also, how do I learn to do a nock-socks renderings in a short time? You could e-mail me at barkas88 at yahoo.com
Thanks again

Nei, I see that you think along my lines. I dumped A-Cad 2000 Gold years ago when I got a deal on Catia, neither do very well when compared with late issue, industry specific construction programs.

2020 is pretty good for manufactured goods

ecabinet systems is free and worth a look if you do custom work

Some of the cnc programs do very good rendering as a side benefit: mastercam, surfacecam

You should take a look at KCDW, I been using it for the last 11 years, it's great, and the people there.

I have a cnc shop and use Cabinet Vision. It's not for the faint of heart as I dropped 24 grand on it. Very powerful, excellent renderings, the only true screen to machine software.
I started with Cabinet Solutions. It was only $3000 or so when I bought it. I think it is a great entry level program and extremely user friendly. It all depends on what you need it for.
You can outsource drawings too if you need to.
