Looking For Basic Software To Draw Floor Plans And Elevations

I build additions, screen rooms, and decks. I need a program to help me with estimateing, and drawing basic floor plans and elevation views. Any suggestions

Most Contractors just use QuickBooks but that doesn't cut it when you want to grow your business. We use Service CEO for our company and franchise operations. It is like $2495 (not cheap) but once you buy it they don't kill you with addiitonal charges. It's real easy to use, even a plumber can figure it out

I have AutoCad 2009. If you good and know where to look you can get it off the internet for free. (full version.not trial or upgrade.)

You realize that is against the law and you could be thrown in jail / fined heavily for it. If you want the software, buy the damn thing. How would you like someone to steal from you? This is not directed specifically at you, but pirated software in general.

Re: Looking For Basic Software To Draw Floor Plans And Elevations

There are a lot of totally different solutions out there, so I think it becomes a matter of preference. I found a pretty easy/free one though. One of my friends told me about this beta application called project dragonfly:dragonfly.autodesk.com

All the decent cad I have tried have left me bewildered.
I finally took a course at a local College and learned Autocad lt.
Its a good program but only draws lines. No 3d
I think most colleges only teach the AutoDesk programs because there are so many programs out there and they couldn't teach them all.
And it is too bad they all work differently!
I think you would be happy with Autocad Lt. Its about 1000.00.
It draws nice Wall sections, has hatches, floor plans can be drawn to as much detail as you have the time for.
But, if you are like me, you might have to take a course.
