floor plan design software

ive been looking around for a program to design floorlans. elevations and renderings are optional. here is what ive found.

CadPro
Fastplans (Looks funny but got some consideration for it.)
Solid builder (Very upscale and too many toys for me but if they are included i might as well use them.)
Delta cad

Could you help me chose the right on or recommend another one to me. basically all i need is floor plans but automatic elevations would be nice. thank you for any help you can give me. Actually rendering would be nice too but price comes in and learning the program. (i'm the kind of guy who wants to go into a program and figure it out myself but i'm willing to learn and sit down with tutorials if i have to.

Google a program called Progcad, it is free still (I think) and is DWG compatible. The free version is only 2D but that is what it sounds like you are after.

ProgeCAD is IntelliCAD. It's cheap

Alibre is free
SketchUp is free
ProgeCAD(IntelliCAD) is cheap
TurboCAD is cheap

what else you want? Better Homes and Gardens Home Architect?

No one is going to be able to tell you what is good for what you want. Pick something.

Agreeing with framerman, you have to pick for yourself.

Most products have been mentioned here except for Home Plan Pro.

Framerman,

I think I should show you what we do with Softplan. It might change your mind about it. Yea, I agree the rendering edn can use some help however with version 14 it has really improved. We are still on 13. That said from a Constrcution Doc. side it's really good. I would like to send you one of our plans to show you what we are doing with it. Most of the computer renderings on my site were done in Softplan however moved to other programs to clean them up. www.AvidHomeStudios.com I'm an ex framer. Check out our product site too. www.AvidHomeStore.com I would also welcome any articles you would like to write for our blog or Magazine. www.AvidHomeMagazine.com We are launching our first addition in January.
