Can anyone help me modify a CAD drawing?

I need to make a quick change to a CAD cut drawing. I'll send it you if you think you could help.
Thanks for the help in advance.
Roger

I have it in PDF.

Can it be saved and edited in a different format?

Send me your email in a PM and I will forward you the doc.

BTW,
Thanks.

It will not work as a pdf. It needs to be in the format that it was created in.

In order for someone to make a change to the cad file, it will need to be in a file that we can open up and change the actual cad file. A pdf file is just a presentation file for others to view.

Gotcha. Thanks for e help. I have lost a hard drive and do not have my software reinstalled yet.

I have never tried to change a PDF back to a .dwg file or to save either. But, if it can't be done, it can't be done.

Thanks for your time.

There are a lot of PDF to DWG programs out there, and some of them are free. Just do a Google search.

I have never used one so don't know how well they work, and if they lose anything in the process. Never had a need to since all my drawings are backed up in multiple places, like on the server, 2 other computers, portable backup disk, and on CD/DVD.

That sounds like trying to stuff sausage backwards through a sausage grinder to get a pork roast again.

Your right, don't know if I would trust it. Seems like most of these type of programs usually lose something in the process.

You can, but you do lose information. It's never a perfect process.

Better to have the dxf file.

Just re-install your program, how hard can that be? 10 minutes?

Redraw it in CAD

It looks like your only other option is to redraw the PDF with CAD in order to modify it.
If you would like me to help Email me at jmanzo1@comcast.net.

Yeah, great idea. I thought of that one too. But when it's in storage, sometimes things are hard to find, dontchano?

Actually autodesk makes a program that you can scan digital prints onto your computer and you can work with them in autocad that would work for you. I have the program if you would like to know what it is.

Most recent versions of CAD programs have a integrated raster to vector converter program built in. Not sure about AutoDesk products since I haven't worked with them in years.

Raster to vector is what the programs are that allow you to scan a print and then convert it to something you can work with in the CAD program.

But unless the prints are letter page size you will need a large format scanner, and they are not cheap.
