Thinking Of Working In Pest Control

I've been thinking of trying pest control for a while. A company over in the next county is hiring for a pest control technician and I'm thinking of applying for it. They will train you for free. And have full benefits. But the part I'm a little unsure about is they pay commision is that the norm in this trade? Also they want you to be bonded. So I was just wanting some input from those of you who have been doing pest control living and what your opinion is on it.

Unless you sell additional services and build up a big route you will not make much money. If you can live for a while with not so much..use them as a leg up to start your own business.

Actually you can make great money, especially if you get with a big national company. I love this industry been in it for over 20 years, you have a trade to take anywhere. I would recommend getting your feet wet then decide what to do, me personally like working for myself but it has its pros and cons. Hope this helps.

Re: Thinking Of Working In Pest Control

Pest control can be highly profitable, especially for an owner/operator. Just don't do what everyone else does and pay for traditional advertising. Setting up a few marketing agreements with some lawn care companies can net you a ton of accounts... there are a lot of free/low cost ways to get new customers very easily.

So yeah maybe work for them for a few months to learn about it, then do your own thing. A pest control company is easy to set up.
