Termite Control Methods

Hello All, I am a moderator on the cleaning talk board and I came here in hopes of getting some educated opinions on termite control procedures.

We just bought a home (as is) that has some sub-terrian as well as dry wood termites. We have gotten estimates for both tenting of our home and for microwave and ground treatment.

My question is, what are your thoughts on the microwave/ ground treatment method? Any one else have an experience here?

Thanks in advance

theresa

We treat our Barrier product with boron and it resists termites. They can live and thrive in foam insulation. barrett enterprises inc

Re: Termite Control Methods

I have never heard of the microwave treatment. Around here they drill in past the bricks and spray some type of treatment. Also they drill into the foundation inside and pump some type of chemical below the slab.

I didn't know termites could or wanted to live in the foam insulation. I had always heard it was a great benefit because termites didn't like it.

Re: Termite Control Methods

Microwave is very good. You do not have to leave and it targets right to them. Be sure they don't miss any and make sure you have a 'repair' contract instead of service. Microwave will be fine for the Drywoods and hopefully they are using Termidor or Premise for soil treatment--Get the same repair contract..You should be fine.

Re: Termite Control Methods

Termites can be a lot nuisance. The best way to deal with them is to get a pest control done. Pest control is a vital part of home maintenance. I know of a very good company named Carolina Pest Management. They specialize in Charlotte pest control, charlotte ant control and many more such services. Their pest control treatments are customized to your home! You can visit their website for more info! I am sure they'll be of great help. Kudos!

Yup, I'm throwing my hat in the Termidor ring. Also gets ants, roaches, scorpions & the killer centipedes!

Re: Termite Control Methods

Hi,

Well don't really have a lot of drywoods here in Texas except near the gulf but have spot treated several successfully. Haven't use the microwave and we don't fume too much here too exspensive. I have use boracare and termidor came out with a drywood treatment too. As far as the subs temidor is the best and its a non repellent allowing the termites to travel through and tranfer to each other eliminating the colonies. I hope this helps
