Spray Foam Damage - HELP!

Hello All:

Your help on this is much appreciated. I am building a wine cellar in an old 1800's home. We went ahead and used spray foam to insulate the wine cellar. The ceiling in the cellar (between the joists) which we sprayed onto is the underside of the floor boards for the floor on the first floor. When the foam was applied it seeped up through the cracks in the floor boards and may have damaged the finished floor above. Not sure how much yet.

I was assured by the spray foam company that it should be fine. I made it a point to bring this issue up with him on a few occasions and it still did just what I warned him about.

Any suggestions on how to clean the foam out from the cracks on the first floor? Any other advice?

Ben

I believe that you are the only one
in your trade here.
You will probably get more help
if you can give more details....
What kind of foam?
What kind of wood on the floor?
What kind of finish?.....
Specific questions get specific
answers.

if its urethane foam on a polyurethane finished floor, it won't really stick. Just light sanding (and maybe a recoat of poly) should take it off.

Yeah, call your spray foam company and ask them for the name and phone number of their liability insurance carrier.
