Icynene And Batt Combo

i need to have my roof re-insulated (long story) and one insulator i talked to wants to spray 3/4 icynene to get an air tight seal and then use batt for the r-value ,i guess.

i have never heard of this befor. i am a certified green professional from the NHBA and i sure as hell don't know everything but i don't like this idea.

anybody have any thoughts or have used this system?

Re: Icynene And Batt Combo

It has to be CLOSED CELL foam (tested & approved - i.e. Demilic) - Icenyne is open cell

Splash & Dash is a trick to keep costs down (CC foam followed by OC foam, or batts, etc...)

You might want to check out the building science website, or pull a few searches on here

I have not used a splash & dash system - I went with straight Closed Cell & an ERV to introduce Fresh air
