Expanding My Company by Offering Insulating.

I have been a small contractor for 7 years now and have noticed how difficult it is to get quality insulation contractors. There are few insulators who are good at what they do, and if they are good, it is hard to schedule with them as they are understandably busy.

I am now looking into purchasing a blower and adding a side business to get going. I am curious as to what the ideal tools and machines to get and what the most cost effective techniques are out there.

My idea is to get a 16-22 ft trailer and mount the blower in the back corner with a gererator in case electricity is not redily availible. The rest of the area could be cord and hose storage, a tool shelf and of coarse insulation storage and transportation to the site. This looks like a better idea than a box truck.

I have looked into meyer, intec, and Krendl electric models.

Another thing I am wondering about is what the larger contractors are looking for, are more people going to foam insulation these days? should I invest in a more versitile blower? I have millions of questions, but they will come as we go with this hopefully interesting topic.

I do it

I love insulation jobs..........

Buy 20 bags from home depot get machine for free...

I charge 800 for a small/mid attic and make a good 300-400 sending my 2 stupiest guys there to make dust for 2-3 hours.... Work great.. Big money... Dummies can do it.... I love it

make clean up clause for potential dust... Leave machine parked outside.. Order more insulation than you think you need... Tell guys it has to look flat(give em rake) and youll make money... But the work is speratic

That sounds so professional

This is one of the reasons it's hard to find good insulation installers. That and the fact that most companies don't pay very well
