Wooster 9x3/8 Jumbo Core Cageless Frame

Anyone here ever use the now discontinued 9x3/8 Super-Dooz 2 1/4" cover that has endcaps that fit a cageless frame? I see Wooster offers a crimp wired frame called "Big Ted", and I can take the caps off and use this, but I like the way cageless frames roll with the minis, and 18"s.

I use the big ted frames all the time. I am always looking to try another 2-1/4 frame though.
The 2-1/4 covers I use are Lambswool.

I guess I need to get in touch with Wooster to find out why they included endcaps on the old stock 9" rollers I just bought. I could cut down an 18" wide boy, or use the wire cage Big Ted, but it seems set up for the Euro-Style Whizz single shank that never took off in the U.S.

You have any pictures of this frame they sent you? I have been looking for alternative frames for a long time. Or the name and model #.

Re: Wooster 9x3/8 Jumbo Core Cageless Frame

I didn't get a frame with the rollers, been searching for a single shank that would have been used with them to no avail. I heard that these were discontinued in 2003 and the only jumbo core Wooster offers now is in Superfab which is knit, these are woven.

The thing I don't like about cage frames is the pressure from the wires can push the core "out of round" resulting in a bumpy ride. The Big Ted looks like an improvement over standard wire. I'll have to try it.

Workaholic, Tell me why you are looking for an alternative?

The only thing I can think of as to why these have endcaps is they were intended for use with that crazy looking Wooster speedroller.

The Big Ted frame is fine no complaints really. the only reason I would buy some different frames is just to try other options. In the last almost 10yrs of using the jumbo core covers I have always only seen and used the Big Ted.
