Re: Wise Painter

You rolled a popcorn ceiling .......... you are brave. I always use old rollers for that so I can throw them away when all the popcorn gets stuck in them.

Ain't she a beauty?!?
If the popcorn has been previously painted and you use a light touch you can roll it, or if you are really good unpainted popcorn can be rolled.
Also the nap on the Colossus releases boogers easily enough to use on loose substrates.

I have to admit that I was very skeptical of using a 3/4 nap collossus on smooth walls. I had to try for myself. At first I wasn't impressed. It holds so much paint that when I first started applying it was leaving too much texture. However, it was just too much paint. After I got the hang of having to work the paint out on the wall it was great. I rolled half a dang wall with on dip!!!!! left a nice finish. Nice recommendation

Awesome!
Ain't it amazing?!? I figured a couple of members would foul it up entirely and blame me or worse, tell me I don't know what I am talking about.

The speed in which you will finish jobs now is all about the +$$$$!
I start at the top of the wall about 1 1/2' from the ceiling, drop the load in a downward diagonal away from the wet edge and from the bottom I begin tooling the paint back towards the wet edge. I continue lightly with the empty(ish) cover about 1~2' over the wet edge to provide a continuous look.
Seriously, people are amazed at my speed and how the first coat looks like the final topcoat.
Truly the Purdy Colossus has re~invented the wheel, and created a better mouse trap.
Painting is fun again.

Re: Wise Painter

Modernstyle, trick is to keep it wet and not roll back into it and im also lucky at the fact this ceiling was primed and painted so it wasnt pulling it off. Wise im sorry but i just dont think i can use a 3/4 nap roller on satin walls i use a 14'' or 18'' when ever possible 1/2''on ceilings and walls matte finnish cannot remember last time i used anything else. Old saying if its not broke dont fix it.

I am certainly not one to try every new product that SW tries to hock at me, but honestly this new Purdy set up is worth trying something new.
It takes a bit of getting used to but once you get the hang of it you won't go back to the other covers:

I think i will give the 3/4 a shot i played it safe and went with the 1/2

For my normal rollers i use 3/4 lambs with the 2-1/4" jumbo core. With woosters big ted frame.
