Re: What Are You Getting For Custom Homes?

Hello to all haters. Yes I posted a response at 9am, from my laptop with a verizon wireless card from a jobsite.
I have been running this business for 17 years now and pretty much think that I know what I am doing (but I am learning more each day). We also have a renovation company that does more business than most painting companies around.
21 employees, yes, on the same job at one time?? Now wouldn't that be dumb? Loosing my shirt, not quite. I have not touched a brush for a long time and never will. I think if you took the time to listen to me you might learn something.
NEPS if you want a career painting bathrooms and not running a business- ENJOY. I am going to sell this business when I want to retire. How many others can even think of selling a painting business?!
Volume, yes we do tons of volume, by the way.
ihatepaint.com guys give us tons of work. We do the work for them because it is highly profitable. I don't know how it was said that we painted all of those homes for $2k a house. I think I said that last year we painted and earned over a $100k from them and this year we will be painting 45 houses this year.
NEPS, give me a call when you need a job- Hater

[quote=ProWallGuy;373245]So, I guess you guys think any paint company with 20 or more employees is just a fantasy? Look around, they are out there. Here's one right off the top of my head:
http://www.nolanpainting.com/
These guys have 100 employees, and only do residential repaints. Not union, nor commercial.

On these boards, Nolan is a Hack!! No way can they work with quality when they have over 2 men

Re: What Are You Getting For Custom Homes?

This has been a interesting post, to say the least. So hear is my view on this. We all come here to learn, ask questions, and give our view on topic that interest us. Yes i'm a old timer, starting in my 28th year of painting. If you would look at my resume, you would see 27 full year of painting with NO gaps in work history. Us old timers have fore gotten more than most will ever learn, sorry about that but true.

There are a lot of old timers here that want to teach people about the painting business, only to those that want to learn. Painting is a funny business, everyone thinks they can paint,

Different areas have different prices for painting work, we all know that.
So when premierpainter, winn, prowallguy, robertpaint, and others try to educate people, try to listen more closer to what they are saying, and less foot in mouth.

Our company grosses over 1m. every 4 years, how much over i won't say. Does that make us a big company, No Does it mean we are rich, boy do i wish.

We get so tired of trying to teach, homeowners, builders, superintendents, and now painters...But we still do it. Even i'm still learning."Craftmanship is not what makes a business successful" by Ken Fenner very good post.

Start keeping a open mind, and LEARN what is being told.....

I've done a few 30 and 40k interior jobs but 150k must be amazing.... I do love painting bathrooms too....best part is getting right behind the bowl and sticking your face against the porcelean,,,mmmm good

No to all. We offer them Health Benefits, but they decline them due to the costs.
