I would like to reiterate what PWG said
Never, ever, let the promise of "more work" affect your bid
First off, it's mostly BS
Second, if in the off-chance it's not a lie, if you underbid the first job to get more work, what do you think they are going to say when you charge regular price for the second job
"Buh-Bye you're too high"
The only thing I hear more often than "...and if I hire you I've got more work" is (from homeowners) "I could do it myself but...."...lol...
As for the price, that is going to vary greatly by area and your specific business needs (costs)
Someone else's numbers are not going to work for you
Well, they might, but that would be luck
Not a good way to run and grow a business
Personally, I've found small hotel mgrs. to mostly be some of the cheapest....people out there (I've got a ton of them out here)
They are looking for low, low, low
Below what I can operate on
If I'm going to go broke, I'd rather do it sitting on my couch than working my tail off
They can wake up a drunk out in the dumpster out back and give him $40 and a brush
The ones that do want quality work, they are either willing to pay...or not
My point is, if you figured $3600 was what you need for the job, stick by it
If they question the price, sell it as to why it is what it is
Tell them you don't intend to be the cheapest, but explain why you are a better choice than the ones that bid cheaper
You'll either get the job, or not
If they are looking for $1200 tops, you probably wont get it anyway
If they were willing to spend $4600, they'll be tickled pink
There's not much you can do about either
