Web Site

Have any of you found a website to help generate leads or by giving potential customers a chance to look at pictures of jobs has it helped close more estimates? I am thinking of starting up a website and wanted to know what you have found most helpful to have and how worthwhile it has been to have a website.

Re: Web Site

As far as leads go...I am currently signed up with 'servicemagic'. Just signed up, so I havent gotten any leads yet. There are a bunch of 'lead generating' sites out there though....check out the advertising in here(upper right).

Overall, these types of sites do generate more work. It comes at a price, but I'd rather pay 1% to someone and get the other 99% when I actually land the job

Note: I personally dont get much from seeing other peoples pictures. I get more out of their mission statments and overall wording and presentation. A good example of a real nice and informative site is Steve's site...http://www.jonespaintingonline.com/.

Yikes! On the thread....

good thing when I said 'signed up', I should have clarified more. I have not done anything final with them, including give them any bank account info. I worded this wrong, didn't mean to mislead.

Thanks for the info though, AFI~I'm reconsidering 'making things final' with them~~I'll have to do some more homework

Websites do generate leads, and the ROI is extremely low for those leads. If you want some real help with a website, call my friend Aaron at Footbridge Media. He will set you up with a very professional looking site for a very reasonable price. www.footbridgemedia.com

Re: Web Site

websites will bring you calls/emails and possible jobs
but you have to promote your website
you can't just have a website floating around with no links to it

there are directories that you can link your business and website too
some for free some for a fee

and everytime you post something here you can have your site linked in your signature

when creating your website, look into META tags for description and keywords
also, look into SEO tools and applications that will better your rankings in search engines like google and yahoo

Re: Web Site

Aaron just finished putting up a new version of my website today. Take a look. I think our last one was a little dark and drab. This one is geared to the customer more directly. It has already produced a lead today from just the home page. Person looked, and called us right away.

Footbridgemedia will also help you with all kinds of other marketing, as well as pay per click etc. They handle our website, including updated news and articles every month, they do an e-mail and a print newsletter for us each month, as well as help us with creating advertisements, and a ton of other stuff.

We get all of this for a fraction of what it would cost you to learn how to build, design, optimize, and implement a website, newsletter, etc on your own. They do all this at an extremely economical rate, and they are particularly geared towards contractors. A number of the contractors on this board have used their services and are extremely happy.

For the money spent (not to mention saved $$ each hour of your labor you put into it) you can not beat what footbridge will give you.

It's like you'll hear a lot around here. You're a contractor. Let a web designer handle your website, you handle contracting.
