Seriously
The P-C saw at the HD is a de-spec'd version of the one at Western Tool Supply that's why it's cheaper
Same with the Planter's peanuts at W*M
Open up that can and compare the quality of nuts to one from the grocery store, the W*M nuts would normally be rejected by Planter's and turned into peanut butter

Of course, that's what I like about this site
It's a lot of rejected nuts that haven't yet been turned into peanut butter

No, Sherwin Williams does NOT manufacture Wal-Marts paint. That is false information to my knowledge.

Sherwin Williams owns over 500 paint manufacturers around the globe. Each company still produces their own paint, but hands the money over to SW.

Even if WalMart's paint is made by SW, who cares? If it was, I'm sure it was manufactured out of crap to meet a certain price point. The giant retailers tell the manufacturers what they're willing to pay for a certain item, and they scramble to retool with crap to meet that stupid price point.

another sleazy tactic fleecing America

Re: Walmart Paint Made By Sherwin Williams?

Sherwin Wms. stores themselves and everyother paint store sells different levels of paint. pro mar series 700 is crap, 400 is ok for ceilings and 200 is bascally a decent wall paint. The stuff they keep out back for commercial accts . is super crap but if a builder specs it they have it. Yea, SW has supplied Wally for years. The sad part is I was in my local store to get a quart of something and an " Contractor" was in there buying 20 gallons of the stuff. I said, you're not using that on a job are ya?( I was in my civi's)..oh yea, it's the same as super paint but for 14 bucks a gallon....Glad we know that now, we can all use it. Don't think so. pd

Re: Walmart Paint Made By Sherwin Williams?

You will never know who makes paint for Wallyworld or an apron store.

They have the buying power and have it made to meet their minimum specifications at a low price in exchange for a volume. It must be compatible color-wise with existing to protect the image and continuity.

Some manufacturers have lines that meet or exceed the minimum specs and are willing to sell at the price Walmart wants to pay, they will supply as long as it does not hurt the image of the paint manufacturer. Volume is important when you have a paint plant sitting idle.

When times get tough, the major name brand suppliers with good facities will probably supply more to Wallyworld at a low price for a limited period. This just forces the low price paint suppliers down in price.

Because of the weight of paint it will probably come from the U.S. and not imported. There are easier things to ship across the water than paint even with the new Walmart super ship that is 4 or 5 days faster with a smaller crew.

So you are saying that the Dewalt 704 saw from the HD is different then the 704 bought from the Dewalt store with the same part number? I don't believe it.

Walmart has had it's name brand paint (color place) made by different manufacturers over the years. Sw used to make it. Currently it is made by Valspar. Dutch Boy is owned by SW that is sold in their stores.

Re: Walmart Paint Made By Sherwin Williams?

I have a good friend who sells to Home Depot and the products he sells are the same you find any where else. The quality is the same, they do not cheapen the product. Think about how much more products they sell in 2,000 HOme Depot's compared to "Ralphs true value", example. By the shear volume the vendors like Milwaukee Tools sell in the big boxes they can lower the cost to the HOme Depot and lose out on margins but gain the top line. Then they, Milwaukee Tools, sells the same products to the small stores for higher costs, larger margins, meaning the retails need to be higher. The point is, the products are all the same, but the big boxes do so much volume the suppliers can offer them lower costs and the big boxes can offer us, the customers, lower retails.

But they are produced at SUCH a Discount WITH SUCH A MAJOR RTV Policy (Return To Vendor, for credit), that it is NOT cost effective for the Vendor to produce the same line.

As a matter of fact, the same product at HD has a DIFFERENT PLU/SKU/UPC than at Blowes or anywhere else.

It is just plain Dollars and Cents factors that dictate this production practice.

Strangely enough I was at a friend's house who isn't even Jewish. I forget why he had it but he makes his own wine and hard cider and you never know what else he will have on hand, he always keeps us guessing.

Seems to be true.
Wal Mart sells the same electronics as Best Buy, yet the WM electronics do not last as long.

Ever notice that electronics from Best Buy have only 1 "INSPECTED BY #5"
stickers compared to WM's 3?
