Walking Away?
Professional manner to turn work down?
After consults and research can't persuade HO to apply oil to bare cedar, use oil to cover stains, or use a flexible filler for butt joints. Sure many of you will think "Do it their way and cash the check" and that was a mistake I made many moons ago. However I'm walking away from this one and would like to hear your methods to walk away and leave a positive, professional image. Here's what I have "Dear Mr ======= Thank you for the opportunity to bid on the exterior renovations, and painting of your home. After careful consideration I have determined that the approach is not compatible with the work practices of =============. It is with regret that I must to decline the works offered. We wish you luck in finding a suitable contractor. Kind Regards p

Re: Walking Away?
Bid it really, really high. It will surely be more labor to remove old filler and replace with new rigid filler.

Re: Walking Away?
I'm not a painter, but any job worth doing is worth doing well. I say never lower your standards. I have pre made letters like the sample you provided, send that letter, who knows they may agree with you.

Re: Walking Away?
Caulk for corners and butt joints, glazing putty for nail holes.
