Video Of Unique Exterior Roller - Where Is It?

Early last year a member posted a video and a description about a specialized roller that he uses for exterior work for prepainted wood. The roller cuts down on labor time and is used for repaints with latex paint. The video showed a painter using the specialized roller vs. 2 painters using just the regular brush and roller technique.

I cannot remember the name of the product or where I can access the video.

Can anyone help me with my search??

Thanks.

Unfortunately no...but thanks for responding. I will definitely look into this one for other projects. Looks innovative.

The one I am thinking about has a unique swivel head that moves the sleeve around. The sleeve /roller is removal and washable. Sorry I cannot be any more specific, but it is used for exterior work only and it's for rough / wood finishes. The roller does not provide a fine finish.

Yeah right! I'll stick to my paint brush. You'll still have to cut the ceiling and base corners in with a brush. Then you'll have to clean two items. I bet I can cut faster than you can roll one of those. I bet in the video they use only the best spreading paint just to make it look easy. This is my take. I'll probably try it eventually. Anyone have any input on using it?

I can see for exterior like they were on those bricks, but i can't see it for interior, I mean you have the hose dragging behind you getting stuck on things and i prefer using a nice 10mm sleeve for my finish coat and i can't see this product providing such a finish. Maybe priming.......maybe.

My 'cornerease' was disposed of long ago. It does NOT go fully into corners unless you haul it out dripping and then paint goes everywhere.

My house needed to be painted and that's where I tried it out, where the mess was all mine. The product sucked and I was back to a brush after 4 hrs. of fooling with it.

Another diy tool down the drain, LOL. I was thinking of picking it up for cutting in ceilings - but then it looks like I'd still would want to take a brush and fan out the 'excess' ceiling paint that is on the walls. So basically what would be the point? If anything - strictly for the priming stage, imo. But haven't tried it, so just a guess.

Re: Video Of Unique Exterior Roller - Where Is It?

The original roller with a shield was like a wizz roller, where the roller would flip to the shield. sold in a box with 3 rollers and a tray. Then about a year later the same gizmo surfaced under a different name its design was similiar, however th shield would flip to the roller instead. I thought, wow some one stole some ones idea, made one small modification, and calls it ther own. So I looked it up on line (this was years ago) and came across a patent forum in which a woman was talking about how her husband had invented, produced, and sold a shielded roller, and that his patent officer died and the patent did not get properly protected......... Weird I know...............oh by the way I have cut in cove base using a long taping knife and a wizz roller but only if I had to do a mile of it (halls).

Thanks Teetorbilt...its always great to get feeback from an actual user, especially someone with your experience. The videos on this product make it look very easy and I would only buy it for outside work. But based on your experience... paint flying all over the place, I think I will stick with the tried and tested tools of a brush and roller.

Re: Video Of Unique Exterior Roller - Where Is It?

It's a good idea and would probably work with a more acute angle on the roller. The way that it is, I couldn't get it to fill the corners and the paint spluged out (causing runners on both sides of the roller) when enough pressure was applied to fill them. I really did dedicate the time trying to make it work. I use BM paint.

Dont waste your money.
I was given one of those corner rollers at a pro show at the local paint store, It has been setting in the van for over a year, someday I will figure out something it is good for, but it sucks in corners.
