I'll get back to you on sq ft. pricing, as I know the most reputable plasterer in Connecticut.

I do know, however, he charges $60-$65/hr.

Hi CP,

Are you talking about real venetian or a drywall mud finish? I don't get a lot of oppourtunity to do a venetian type finish, I use drywall compound, but when I do I charge by the hour and not nearly enough as all my customers say I don't when they pay me. I seem to forget that I'm not just painting and that there should be a charge for my talent as well as the hours put in. I think you should charge enough to make you happy at the end of all your hard work but no so much that the client feels that you are taking advantage of them or that you feel that you've taken advantage.

Good luck
Mary

Just the same as painting is all over the board depending on geography, so is VP. When I worked in the CT. area, the average was about $12.00 sq.ft., this was for the real VP, (lime). Here in ME your lucky if you get that work but $8 sq. ft would be the norm. Are you talking syn or lime?

From doing insurance jobs in the past (not painting related) I know that insurance companies have a list of just about all that you can imagine with costs applied to each step. Venetian plaster might not be on that list as it is so specialized but it could be. Insurance jobs always pay more.....good luck with it.

Cheers

Insurance jobs pay more?? insurance CO are the worst to work for they have set numbers either sq ft or some other production rate and they won't vary from them, i wouldn't do insurance work at all.. At lease that has been the experience I have had with them in the past.

Mak I bow to your knowledge of paint related insurance jobs.....I made an assumption as the work I was doing paid far more through insurance than it did otherwise. Was a while ago as well and things to change.
