Valspar Ultra Premium

What is the general concensus on Lowes Valspar Ultra Premium? It appears that many people dislike big box stores on this forum but I live in a small town that does not have a BM or PL dealer. There is a really small SW dealer but I've heard bad things about it.

1) Big Box Home Improvement stores are not interested in supplying quality paint products to paint professionals
They are in the business of separating uninformed occasional DIYers from their money

2) There are always alternatives
Look for a local dealer of regional paints, a Home and Garden place that has Pittsburgh or California...maybe it's not really advertised
Check for an Ace Hardware...lots of them have Ben Moore

3) Don't go by what you hear in this type of case
There's two sides to every story...give them an honest chance
.....at least once anyway

(btw, a sure sign of a crappy product is putting words like "ultra" or "premium" in the name....uh, this one has both, that's double bad)

Ace hardware has BM in 45% pf its stores and is working with BM to have in there warehouses so Ace doesn't have to do drop ships from Bm. usually BM makes them buy a lot per store.

Anyway to the original post yes try and find something else. Never have used Valspars products. (except cabot which they bought a view years ago)

What town are you located in? and how far are you willing to travel do a search on some paint sites and see who's close.

I used quite a bit of Valspar's (ext.) 5100 series back in the 80's. But IF they still make it, I'm sure it's been reformulated/made crappy by now.

I was ona job where Valspar "premium" exterior was used. Bad mistake. After two days of being applied, it rained(light) and the paint ran. It was a junky paint, I will never use that stuff.
