Vacuum Recommendation
So what do people use?
I used to get the cheap Shop-Vacs but they fall apart real quick and the wheels and accessories tend to get lost also. Now we're using someone elses big Ridgid Vac. which i've ben happy with so far. |

Re: Vacuum Recommendation
I've used craftsman shop vacs for a bit now. Never saw a vacuum that had better suction, ever. I have an 8 or 12 gallon, can't remember, it's new.

Re: Vacuum Recommendation
I gotta go with the Craftsman too. I've had two of them for over 5 years now, I bought 2 bigger more powerful ShopVacs, but i'd just as well throw the things away, nothing compared to the Craftsman.

Re: Vacuum Recommendation
Why do you need a shopvac? I mean, I have one.. a rigid in fact, but I use a blower to clean out new construction and really never needed anything bigger than a tiny one for repaints.....

Re: Vacuum Recommendation
pretty much the same as Benn, i have one and rarely use it for work. I too prefer to blow out the dust. Sometimes will spray water on the floor with a garden sprayer, just out side of the baseboard.

Re: Vacuum Recommendation
My favorite is made by ridgid. It is shaped like a tool box and has compartments for the hose and the attatchments. It is very compact and very powerful. I also have a big ridgid, which is very nice but it take up a lot of room. The compact one does not take up so much space in the van. We use our shop vacs all the time.

Re: Vacuum Recommendation
Im with Leroy. I have the small toolbox one he describes, good power and great for repaints...easy to carry around. I also have a larger ridgid that I generally only use on new construction or jobs where I skimm coated. The big one works great too, but is a pita to drag around and takes up lots of space. Ive got one of those swiffers, both wet and dry, to quickly go over the hard floors when Im on my way out, they are great for those little drop cloth crumbs and dust that you sometimes see.

Re: Vacuum Recommendation
Rigid Shop Vacs-The only Rigid tool that's actually supposed to suck
I've used them, but own a Craftsman that's too big and a little Shop Vac that works alright, at least I can use the drywall dust bag in it The small Rigid you can't use the bag Not a heck of a lot of difference between them clean-up wise really (other than the "bag" option, which works well for drywall dust) The bigger ones "seem like a good idea at the time" but aren't realistic for dragging inside customer's homes

I have a Rigid but mostly use a Mite Mite inside on repaints.

[QUOTE=

I have a big rigid that will as it was put to me "suck the white off rice" it does when clean. But use a smaller Craftsman in customers homes. Its easier to move and quieter. I used it when I had to do some lead remediation as it can handle a HEPA filter. |
