Using HVLP Indoor

I am working on priming then painting built in wall shelving bookcase. I am taking doors off and spraying in garage. Should I brush or spray the built in portion. Will it cause too much overspray.

Depends, how big is the unit? If it is small it would not save much time. If it is large than yeah spray that sucker down. HVLP's have a greatly reduced amount of overspray, however they do still produce it. Mask off the walls around the unit.

Re: Using HVLP Indoor

I mask all surfaces that are not going to receive lacquer (within 3 ft. of the substrate being lacquered) then dial down my 395 to about half and use a 311 green fine finish tip.

An HVLP is a great choice if the HO will be around watching you work, it reminds them of auto body shops. Who wouldn't want their furniture finishes to look like a Ferrari?

Re: Using HVLP Indoor

It may just be me, but I feel like HVLP sends more paint airborne that can drift through the house. Airless definitely puts out more paint by far, but it does not seem to carry as far to me.
