Unwanted "Crackle" Effect!

We are re-doing a room for a good client, including new drywall on the ceiling. My guy was trying to be fast, and decided to spray KILZ oil-based (don't ask) as a primer. He waited the 4 hours required (on the can) and sprayed latex ceiling flat over the prime coat.

Returning the next day, we found that the paint had crackled all over, due (I think) to the fact that the KILZ was not fully cured before he sprayed the ceiling flat, and maybe because his applacation rate on the ceiling flat was a bit heavy, as well.

I am considering sanding and skimming as needed, re-priming and painting with rollers, but wanted to see if any real painters can offer anything that will prevent this becoming more of an awcrap than it already is. Luckily, client is fine, but who wants to test that further?

I would pole sand it, apply a coat of peel stop by zinsser then finish with ceiling paint, ps do not use oil on bare drywall in the future

You know, I knew that, and he knew to ask, since we've never...but that's all soon-to-be history, of course. Never hurts to humble a working man, I suppose! I appreciate the information, mrpaintguy. We will do just that. JP
