touching up old cabinets

I need to touch up some oak cabinets, around the sink and dishwasher mostly. They were stained with Minwax early american and then sprayed with lauquer. They are not real bad, just some minor spots, can I go over them with stain and then polyurethane?

David, I would suggest that you clean these really well with a detergent or solvent according to need, spot stain with the matching Minwax stain, & then put a clear gloss finish on (check with paint rep for the appropriate finish). By the way always test this procedure on the inside of a cabinet door first. You may need to do all the cabinets to make ithem all look right.
The fresh finish will make the old finish look bad.

stain should be used only if you are down to bare wood.
