Touching Up Light Asphalt Shingles

I had to squirt a few wasps nests under some trim and got TAT (wasp spray) run-off onto some shingles
They are the light colored asphalt kind, and have stained kind of brown
It looks just like when thinner is spilled on them

Will a light wipe-down (top of the texture only) with some white/gray paint work to blend them back in?

Thanks in advance for any tips, tricks, or solutions

Slick i seem to remember someone asked about brown stains on shingles and i made a note oxalic acid worked to remove brown stain.

Prolly would, I always used spray paint to cover up a mistake or two, never had runoff from wasp spray stain one though.

Re: Touching Up Light Asphalt Shingles

Yeah I usually have a black spray bomb on hand for the occasional roof oops
These are light shingles though
The "bumps" are almost-if not actually-white
I'm assuming the bug spray lifted the black background gook those little white rocks are in, and stained them brown
...just a guess though

Oxalic acid huh?
I should just wipe the top of the "bumps" with it then?

Please let us know if the acid actually works, or if you have to buy a new shingle.

Re: Touching Up Light Asphalt Shingles

Ah...I popped over and found it-thanks
It was for rust stains, but perhaps it would work for me
I'm not sure it won't remove the "white"

If I can scrounge up some junk shingles, I may test it first
If not, well...it looks pretty bad as it is, I may give it a go

Thanks

Just a thought, How about bleach? Try a sample area where it won't be so noticable, just to make sure there won't be some irreversible reaction. But i would think a bleach/water mixture of 50/50 would take away the stain and leave the shingles looking original.

I tried some straight on a less visible not stained area
It left the white rocks a little darker
I didn't try try it on the stained area after that
Though, I may do that 50/50 on a stained area to test it
