Tools.

What tools (Prep, brush, spray, etc.) do you use on a regular basis that you would highly recommend?

Which tools have you used that you would never use again?

Has anyone tried the new clean line yellow tape?
is it any good?

Re: Tools.

i tend not to do alot of painting work, but when i used to i always had this one brush that never let me down, no stray hairs/ fibres and i always used to look after it, i think i may still have it in my van some where. :s.... i also no that my buddy uses a dulux paint pod roller which he said saves so much time and gets a really good even spread.

Re: Tools.

I'm normally a wooster man for brushes and roller covers - even poles and frames too. I needed a new varnish brush and stopped by HD (I know, but it was close to the job) and picked up a new Purdy (Cub) 2 1/2 sash brush. It looks odd since the bristles are longer than the handle nearly. Great brush and the thumb recess is kewl

Re: Tools.

I've been using more DAP 45 min dry time caulk in recent months to use on tighter budget, non critical area jobs. Used to use strictly Alex Latex/Silicone.

I'm using yellow tape more and more also. Less chance of pulling the adjoining paint off. I just taped off a resid mural with it. The green would still have me worried. At $10 / rl its a little hard to get used too.

From years ago...Kilz (I think Gold) Latex primer / sealer, the absolute worst most unreliable, inconsistent product ever made.

I don't paint on a regular basis, but I'll say Purdy all the way. I only use Purdy brushes I have tried a couple other brands but something about the purdys I just like. Also Purdy white dove roller covers or sherman williams contractor grade white ones, can't remember the exact name.

Re: Tools.

I use the Corona Champagne bristle "Bronson" 3" oval for both interior and exterior.
With a name like that you KNOW the job will get done right!
Bronson

Cageless Roller frame, poles and covers are Purdy..
Unbeatable for speed and unique appearance.
Seriously, Purdy listens to painters and then creates a magnificent product.
Cageless frame
Poles
Covers

As a solo painter (to insure that the work gets done right the first time...every time) I need tools that speed up my production time without sacrificing the flawless appearance my clients deserve.
These are the tools I recommend to anyone who is seeking the same results.

Wooster rules in brushes . purdy has a soft heel and tends to "fling" paint .

Wooster makes a great pole...

The first ever "pin lock" model.
