Titan 440i Problem

Hi i wondered if anybody would happen to know why my spray gun looses pressure while spraying. I bought it second hand and it worked fine for 3 months or so, now when i use to spray internal varnish or anything else the pressure releases very slow and i loose the pressure and have to keep stopping. very annoying. I was going to put it in for repair but noticed a lot of people seen to know about these guns and thought it may be a simple problem i may be able to sort out.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks
Aaron.

Sounds like your pressure contol switch on your machine is going bad.

Re: Titan 440i Problem

The packings could be the culprit. What is it doing when it is losing pressure? Is the piston going into over drive and running like the switch has been moved to prime?
My first thought though is still the pressure control switch.

the machine is easy to repair. that's why you should always strain your paint.

That product did that at first. The only solution was to use a ceramic ball in your sprayer and float water. The first five would work great, but it dried so fast that it would skin over and when the five got low, it would pit up the ball. When they purchased Duron they took their surfacer and slapped a SW label on it.

Back to the sprayer. When you lose pressure, look at the prime line, is it leaking anything. If it is, replace the prime spray valve. Ten minutes max to fix. If the prime line doesnt leak and the sprayer tries to build pressure but keeps kicking in, you either have a packing issue or the upper or lower ball need attention, usual a good cleaning.

Re: Titan 440i Problem

If you are switching between waterborne and alkyds alot the pick up tube and balls might be all gunked up. Normally I have found that if it is my prime valve that has went bad I can wiggle it and get the sprayer to pressure up for a second. I always use the strainers that tie to the pick up tube, they dont cost much and i like the extra protection.
