tip sizes for trim spraying
how about some advice on spraying trim. i used a 214 and a 314, both fine finish graco tips with the green guards. i sprayed and moved at a good speed, but some places looked a little heavy but had no runs at all. not bad for a first time sprayer. been brushing and rolling for 22yrs and spraying is new to me. AND it's a GOD sent.!!!!!!! fast as sh-- thru a goose!!

Go down a little on the orfice... I use a 211 on trim and at times a 312 for trim and doors, really depends on how much i'm spraying... I have a low psi low gpm sprayer I use for oil and finer finishes. As you get better you will be able to leave your sprayer on high and blow out anything without much worry. Now when you start wanting furniture grade on shelves and such look into cup guns.. not gravity feed guns. Far as advice on spray technique... turn your hand upside down at the bottom of the wall, when you come to a corner blow one side to the corner then turn your hand upright and blow back to it.... keeps the dust from freaking out on your trim... takes a little practice. You may also want to invest in a good blower... regular leaf blower, when you walk in the house blow it out and use a cheapo pumpup to spray water on the edges of the walls in a particularly dirty site. Welcome to the spray world.

I use a 211 with my airless...it's a fine finish tip that makes you feel like your using an hvlp...I wouldn't use anything else, especially if doing a lot of installed cabinets or bookshelves.

how about a 210 fine finish graco tip with the green guard???? reason is that's all they have in sw. i'm in fort walton beach, fl and new to the area. been here a 1yr. i used a 214 and today it seems to shoot a bit too much paint. i had my first run and a metal door and thank GOD i check up on my work and caught while still wet. so how about the 210, too small or seek and find the 211????

The Graco fine finish tips come in even tip sizes (10, 12, etc) The regular tips are odd sizes for the openings. So any Graco 11 is not a double orifice fine finish tip but a regular spray tip, to my knowledge anyway.

211 tip, strain the paint to remove all snots and then buy a pair of pantyhose to cover the rock catcher- works great. You will never have to flip the tip all day long

Should spray through that. I have a smaller spray tech and it goes through fine. In fact i've sprayed pro classic through it, which is a pretty heavy bodied paint.

The 190 is a fine start up rig much better than the magnum line and a lot better than the cheaper spraytechs. I had a 190 years ago when i first was purchasing my equipment, and it served me well, never let me down and after a while as bigger jobs warranted it i upgraded.

Interesting. I could see a 212 double orifice tip for latex, but a regular 211? Does it come out spitting? Does it even atomize properly? Using a 211 for latex goes against pretty much everything I've ever learned. .011, .013 sizes are usually for thin stuff like stains, .015 .017 are for latexes, and .017 or .019 are for things like lacquer and epoxies.
