Tin/metal Roof
I try to stay mostly in interior painting, but might have a lead on a shallow pitched tin roof. I have done or helped do a couple of tin/metal roofs when working for someone else. Both of these were done with electomeric topping. One was because it needed painting, the other because it leaked. There was no prep done so I do not know how successful leak stoppage was as I didn't work much for that person. What I need to know is what is the best procedure for painting a tin roof? Actually, I need tips on materials to use. I should add this in nw alabama.

Re: Tin/metal Roof
prep should be pressure wash, spot prime rusted areas, and top coat. Its the top coat you would need help with.

Re: Tin/metal Roof
I got the wash, prime and top coat part, but not sure about materials to use. I did a search and seen red oxide primer suggested. Someone else suggested oil primer. So I guess what I need to know is what to wash it with, prime it with, and what is the best top coat for tin roof.
I was thinking oil would be the wrong primer for galvanized metal. Last edited by boman47k; 02-17-2008 at 10:55 PM. |
