If it's in writing, I give myself a little extra time, just in case. At least a couple days. And alway write a disclaimer, for weather on exteriors and on unforseen issues on interiors. If the customer asks for anything extra, that voids the quoted time limit.
Try to stay away from penalties on time in general on repaints. In new construction, I'm right on the button for time since there may be penalties levied against the GC if I'm out of sync.

I always add a day extra for repaints with a "weather permitting" line on ext. If you get it done quicker then yay for you.... but really, i've learned to stay away from timelimes with ho's, some get pissed off you don't work 8 per day and walk off with 2k in 3 days because they don't understand overhead. I only give timelines now if asked.
Btw Slick.. I saw the unedited.. heh, thought it was funny too.

Generally I give myself two extra days and then stretch to fit if I have to. It looks really good to be out on the day you say you'll be out. Early is nice, but right on time is so much better. It inspires confidence.

To bid properly you've got to have a pretty good handle on how long it will take
If you mean do I pad it to the customer, yes
In as much as I give them the Worst Case
I mean, if I think it'll take 30 hours, if it goes super smooth it'll be 25, worst case 35, I tell them 35
...well, at 35 I'd tell them 5 days, so that's an extra "pad" too
