for those hard to reach places

Check out this hook I fabricated for my guys. I cut it out of 1/2" steel and drilled a couple holes in it.

It does not look like you needed to use that there, would a ladder be harder to put up?

the top is secured with cables running over the roofline.

the wall was about 35' on the side of a river. no way to get a ladder in.

we used it on many areas of this project. came in handy.

Pretty good idea.
A suggestion may be a shingle guard where the rope and the cable contacts the shingles. Looks like the rope has taken a chunk out of the shingle on the first row. And maybe check the rope holding the seat. Looks kind of gnarly.

Someone asked how is it tied off. Tied to a vehicle on the other side?

All in all looks like a good solution.

Be pretty simple to fix a tilt on the top part of the hook against the house to accomodate different pitches.

Be sure to remove the Keys from the vehicle that it is tied off to. That would be a heck of a ride for the fellow that is in the seat if some one was to get in and drive away...........

Did you design that?

It looks like some of the old junk we had hanging around the shop left over from the 50s. We even had an old block and tackle out there with the ropes and everything. I didn't realize people even still used those bolson chairs anymore. I guess since the use of spiders and cables I guess I just thought those weren't even legal anymore. It sure seems that I recall some 3/4 steel circle looking things and a couple of other misc. handmade steel shapes hanging around for decades.

It's not tied off to a car. we had a fat painter on the other end holding the cable.

might have been strapped to a chimney.

That is a heck of a chunk missing.

Looks more like something
on the roof, rather than
missing.
There is a spot directly below
the flue as well.
That one looks like a piece
is missing.
JMO.....
