Those Electric (disposable?) HVLP Sprayers

If you had a job that required 5 or so gallons of oil paint, and you didn't want to bother with the massive cleaning process of using your airless rig (latex only) for oil... would you buy one of those cheapo electric sprayers just for that job?

I was looking at the various Wagner sprayers that HD sells. I would have such a use. Is it worth the $70??

No, they suck. I searched high and low for one to sell to homeowner's. Putting many through their paces I finally found one that is of decent quality and can actually spray something viscuous. I'm gona link you to the page, you certainly don't have to buy anything from me but you will get an idea about what I am speaking.

i would'nt. i would use something of quality, if it is a matter of cleaning, i would use my airless and clean with paint thinner. If you do not switch back and fourth between oil and latex to often then it won't be a big deal. Just add the paint thinner and the hassle into the bill.

I bought a H-C HVLP turbine ($180 at the box store) for a one off about 3 yrs. ago. Never could get it to squirt latex worth a hoot but it's pretty good with oil. 3 yrs. and still cookin', not a bad return on investment.

for 5 gal + go airless its the only way to fly.5 + gallons is a lot of paint to spray at about 1 qt a pop and is time consuming and a pita.i would not waste my $$ on the wagner buzz spray gun but i would on the wagner fine coat very good toy/tool for the $$ to have when needed for small jobs.i have one fine coat and use it more than my 1200.00 over priced titan ts50 4 stage hvlp turbine souped up vacuum cleaner.i have paint lines for oil base only.buy a extra airless paint line for oil paint only. my 2 cents,i hope it makes sensce .

The way I figured was factor the cost of the sprayer into the total project expenses... treat it as a material cost instead of equipment use.

Ideally, I would buy another airless... and just maybe I'll end up doing that. Thanks for the advice.
