Question

Thinning Asphalt Aluminum

What could I use to thin out some asphalt aluminum? The can I have is a little to thick, if I could thin it a little it would work great. Would mineral spirits work?

Re: Thinning Asphalt Aluminum

Disclaimer: I can guarantee that the manufacturer prohibits thinning their products. I AM NOT MAKING A RECOMMENDATION

BUT.... if its a typical asphalt aluminum roof coating you might use mineral spirits. This is taken from an MSDS

Asphalt25-358052-42-45 mg/m3
Mineral Spirits (Stoddard)25-4564741-41-9100 ppm
Aromatic Solvent10-1564742-95-6100 ppm
Aluminum Paste17-257429-90-510 mg/m3
Dessicant2-363231-67-410 mg/m3
