Is there a price difference Spray vs Rolling

Hello to all...

I'm helping a friend who has been thrown in as a pm for a building company in Edmonton...
It's a duplex new construction...
- 2 units
- 2 story
- 1446sq' floor/unit
- 3 bedrooms
- 2 bathrooms
- 1 ensuite
- 9 interior doors
- 6 closet doors
1 coat primer, 2 coats latex
As I'm a painter too but not in her area, I gave her what I would quote it for which 5875.50...
Now it was my duty to get quotes from other painters and I was shocked to find such a varience in price...

One quote was 6145.50/ unit

One guy quoted 3340.26/ unit

One guy quoted 2675.10/unit

One guy quoted 6500.00/unit

The lower quotes are spray finish and the higher ones spray and roll finish...
This is a high end duplex for sale not rental purpose...
Kindly could someone tell us what a fair rate would be?

studying the quotes I would say that 6145.50 eye balled it for 6000. then threw in the 145.50 to make it look more professional. The 3340.26 probably figured for 3500, thought about it, thought it might be a number some one else would use, refigured trying to shave it down a bit, but not to much, to beat 3500. 2675.10 is either a thought out price, or a hungry painter that dropped from 3000. Im thinking the latter with the 75.10 to look more professional. The 6500 price was eyeballed, experienced, and did not need to make any adjustments for any reason. This person has had similiar jobs like this one, is comfortable, and currently in the flow of this type of work. Your price was 5875.50 I think you thought 6000, and then dropped it a hair to beat a 6000 bid. The PM needs to do reference checks........I used to use 4420. when I was unsure or when things got tight or slow just to try and win, that plus good references would help me win.

I'm not shocked at all
As I've said before to those asking "what should I charge for...?", everyone's overhead is different, there's no "going rate", there's no standard in service (red carpet mint on pillow vs. no prep blow 'n' go)
Call three different companies and get three different prices
I'm not surprised at all

Ensuite bathroom is a bathroom within the suite.
For example:
Main bedroom ensuite is the main bedroom's bathroom.

there isn't much difference in prices...there are basically 2 different jobs quoted here...each one getting 2 quotes that are relatively the same.

btw...weren't there 4 other posts asking the price for a similar job not to long ago?
