Textured Ceiling Painting

would you charge more to paint textured ceilings than regular ceilings?
Also, would you recommend the painter doing the texture ceilings or is it better if the drywaller does it?

thanks

There are situations where I would charge more, yes

I don't apply texture to ceilings unless it's a touch-up/repair

Re: Textured Ceiling Painting

Even if you don't charge more for the labor on a textured ceiling (spraying) there will be more material used and price should reflect that.

Textured meaning what? I would rather paint a stomped ceiling than a smooth ceiling. Much easier. Spray it and go. No backroll no worry of seeing lines. Very rare to see smooth ceilings around here. Usually stomped or orange peel in this area. At least for the builders i work for.

I would charge less if anything (unless remodel painting by hand) because I have always found textured ceiling far easier to get a good looking product.

It is the other way around here, more expensive homes slick ceilings cheaper homes popcorn.

I would add a little bit, to balance use of more product.

One thing I would have to consider is has it been painted before. If I had to seal it first then paint, more money.

Re: Textured Ceiling Painting

texture usually gets oil from me... spatter in the face factor. Flat gets latex, no spatter in the face.

I carry an extra fee for every drop that makes it in my eye or mouth too. LOL
