Taking off and/or painting exterior oil paint on wood siding
I have a job where I need to either repaint (1 coat over the old) the siding or remove the paint(because of cracking and peeling) down to bare wood. The paint used on the house prior to me was Pittsburgh. I am staying with pb (only by customers request) but when the wood is bare I'm going to use a SW oil primer because I've had good luck with all there primers, and then topcoat with 2 coats of the pb.... Now, my question- What is the best way to remove the paint down to bare wood. I dont want to burn. Im good with a 5" disc sander(no swirls or dings), but maybe there is an easier way. Keep in mind...I'm doing the work from my extension ladders, due to the fact that I havent invested yet in staging. Also, what are your standards on recoating (simple 1 coat refresher) over oil? Thanks..sorry so long
PS- I dont bite
