SW Int. Duration???

I got the chance to use interior SW Duration for the first time. Just repainting one wall, previous painter had missed a spot. While the paint is thinner like most waterbornes, I noticed it was not very smooth, also the finished walls in the entire house were that way, all of the various colors had this rough feel when you ran your hand on the wall, almost like very fine sand. I did not care for the final appearance of the product. Anyone else notice this? It also was not very flat for a washable flat (compared to Graham's Ceramic Flat)

Ruff? Never had that problem with it. Were the walls all sanded smooth? Only thing I've noticed with the Duration is you need a good backroll, and it looks like absolute crap when drying. When all's said & done though I must say it's one of my favorite paints to use.

I really like the stuff. It does have a strange feel to the touch but the look is very deep and rich. I try not to run around feeling my walls though!

Never had an issue with it being rough. I think one of the biggest problems I see people having with it is banding around doors/cut in areas, but that is easy to negate with proper technique.

You have to remember something about duration. This is not your average paint. You were fooled by it being a thinner product in the pot, because it goes on twice the thickness of other paints, so proper application is key.

I agree it looks funny when it's drying, but when it's done I swear it looks like I coated the walls in silk. This is a premium paint, and every customer I've used it for loves it.

-walls weren't sanded properly...sometimes has to do with the initial sheetrock prime

$50 Duration is not the problem, if it was it wouldn't cost that much--

Re: SW Int. Duration???

Maybe they had a bad batch, but it was a bunch of different colors and bases and it was not the walls. When I cut in with it, it just felt rough off the brush, not smooth and light like grahams, not thick and still smooth like some regular paints. The best I can describe, it felt like very fine sand paper, too uniform in feel to be wall imperfections and too small of texture for that also.

I have heard of paint getting the wrong amount of defoaming agent and it resulting in small bubbles that feel rough but under magnification, bubbles become visible. Maybe it is something like that.
