SW Flat superpaint

Anyone having problems with the flat cracking, alligatoring or similar around door jambs and wall trim areas. Putting on two full coats in a day and some rooms are doing this. Had to brush on another trim coat later to get rid of this.

What causes it? Mud cracking? Have they reformulated the mix?
Have never come across this til lately.

i used it for the first time last month on ceilings. it alligatored in some places on the caulking of the crown molding. the caulking dried overnight and i primed it the next day and painted it later on in the afternoon. liked the paint but found that aspect odd. a brush swipe later and it was gone. weird

Its not worth it if you have to reset (especially with extension ladders) and go over a 3rd time. Rather ridiculous.

Not at $30+ gal. for flat contractors rate. I've never had this with all other flat paints I've used, which is most brands.

Used the Sw flat superpaint today on a ceiling and had no problem. I liked the paint and it covered well.

Don't know why you had the cracking. Maybe some caulk or compound wasn't completely dry and the paint reacted to it ,in some areas ,when you used it.

these are walls, 11+years old, not among caulked or patched areas.

I notice this happens more on high celing areas -- thinking is combination of framing movement, & the dark color (tint).

Waiting a day between roll coats seems to help, for slowing the dry time.
(usually not practical)

I use SW products exclusively and for flat I only use Showcase. The only line that I find a noticeable difference is is Cashmere Flat. It's like buttah.
