Sunuva!

I ruined a floor today.

I should not bid floor jobs.

I am not a floor guy.

I bid to refinish a small kitchen floor as part of a kitchen repaint.

Long story short: I happen to know a floor guy, $250.00 and 2 hours later I am back in business.
He returned the floor to stain grade.
Thank goodness he was close to my gory "crime scene" and in between jobs today when I called.

Will, you saved my fooking arse!!!1!!!1!!!111!

That's great that you were saved on it. Why did it get screwed up? What did you do to it?

I got all cocky about my mad crazy skillz' and then sucked real bad in front of the HO and my floor guy buddy.

nuthin' much.

I took a floor down to the raw wood but I was an 1/16" short of clearing the original stain.
I didn't buff properly, I didn't pop the grain to receive the darker stain, and I am a painter not a floor guy.
I will eat the cost as well as re~applying the stain/clear coat...again.
I have always believed that there is no better way to learn than to make mistakes.
Hopefully those mistakes aren't too expensive.

I was simply trying to "fit in" with you common laborers with a rousing tale recounting a worrisome dilemma that caused my forehead to become moist with beads of nervous perspiration.

Bah, I shan't make that pithy mistake again.

I posted on here a month ago about my floor job in a restaraunt we did. It came out half ass but they accepted it..I said exactly what you said, I'm a painter, not a floor man. They're two totally distinct areas, it's why I see vans advertising floor man and not painter. I'm sure if I was taught properly, I'd have no problem but I no next to nothing about floors.

If I recall, and fortunately for the sake of this thread that I WILL NOT take the time to research it, I gave you crap concerning "Painters and Floor Finishing" where you said that it IS your job as a painter...........

But.........Without screwups, how does one learn?!?!? Good for you for doing it. Good for you for learning!!!!!!

Boy did I ever...Apparently the original floor was never sealed. I wasn't told this until it was too late.
Now I know what to ask in the future.
