Sprayer?
I'm not experienced with sprayers & have only sprayed maybe 3-4 small jobs with others equip. If I wanted to start spraying interiors, especially doors (kills me doing 15-25 x2 per house sometimes), what would be a good first sprayer to get? Don't need no super duper uber cool $5k machine, but don't want a POS that will die in a few years.

I use a Titan 440 with a 411 tip for trim and doors. I can use it for walls with a 517 or smaller tip, about 800 bucks. Most of my larger spray jobs I use a Speeflo 6900, it's a workhorse! About 2800 bucks. Go to spraymall.com for some good prices, they also give you 150-400 bucks in 'free' accessories. I have used Graco and Titan rigs for 20 years and very happy.

Yeah I stumbled upon Spray Mall a while back when looking up Gracos. Prices do look good.
I would think I'm along the lines of a Graco Ultra 395 or a Titan 440ix. Is the Titan worth the extra $100? Which would be easier to have fixed asap if needed?

I do all of my own repairs, what little there has been. I would say it depends on what your local paint store carries/services. The guys at my local paint store are very helpful. Learn how to take care of your rig after every use and do simple maintence and you will be fine.

Titan 440, hands down...bought one this year on sale at SW for $800.
It came with a free tip, 24' ladder, and gallon of paint.

Ok now where the heck I learn about the 20 different tips they have?
I've worked out a deal with pops. He offered to buy me the sprayer so long as I practice with it on his exterior. Sounds good to me!

Your regular tips are sized as such, they consist of 3 numbers i.e.(419 tip). You take the first number (4) multiply times 2 (8). So a 419 tip gives you an 8 inch pattern. The last two numbers are the orifice size. This is based on what type of material you are spraying. If you are spraying walls with latex paint you want somewhere between a .15 and a .23. Depending on thickness of material, thinner material (lacquer, oil paints) you want a to use a smaller orifice. Heavier materials (latex, blockfillers, highbuilds) you want a bigger orifice.
If the old man is buying you a sprayer. Please do not buy one of those units from home depot or Lowes. The price is nice but in the end you will wish you payed a couple more hundred and get one that will last, the smallest I would buy is (Spraytech 419, Titan 440i, Graco 390) You can find these around $725-$775.

hard to go wrong with either the graco 395 or the titan 440. Personally I prefer Graco but own a titan 440 too, and no complaints.
With the tips, you'll develop a few favorite sizes, for us its 5-19 for wall, 5-12 for doors, 3-11 for trim. maybe get one of these deals where they give away a few tips when you purchase and try a few different sizes till you develop your favorites.
