Simple Estimate.

Pretty easy job, Just wanted to see what others would charge. Pretty new to the bidding and have been doing pretty well with the bidding for the most part. Just was trying to see what others would charge someone to fix a fist hole in the wall? No painting just fixing a hole in the wall. Obviously i could just figure how long and then add the materials for total cost. Just trying to get a better idea what others would charge for such a small simple job.

1x1, cost included in paint, up to 6x6, 50 bucks... larger, we can talk.

Hotpatch will take about 2 hours, one man.

I was thinking $60. What do you feel the most time efficient way to do it is? My bro which is my partner in the business will be stopping by on thur. and taking care of the hole. Just want to see what others think and then will see which way he does it.

Looking for #'s..I'm a tile setter who helped out a customer with some painting needs. Just got a referal from her friend, an Interior Designer with a 'painter problem'; wknd job not near finished by 1:30 Sun.
Jumped on board (with ok from painter on site). Job: Ad offices; four offices, one bath, waiting rm, hallway. After stopping to purchase painting supplies, worked from 3:00 to 10:30 completing one office....which was chuck full of office furniture. So full I had a 12" perimeter to work with. Two hanging cabinets 16" from ceiling.
Next day phone call: "We want you to finish the job, and to please fix the other two offices already painted."
Question: um, I'm not a painter by trade, I do enjoy it and have been told by other painters I do great work. I have to admit, I couldn't have followed a better act!! Now they want an estimate for the job.
It's quite a drive (45 min), and they wish to have it done over the wknd 5pm Fri till whenever Sun.
So, what's a self-employed, talented, workaholic, tile setter who enjoys painting charge for job entailing all these aspects??
I also need to know by 10 AM tomorrow. Whatever you got will help I'm sure, thanks.

Hey Benn, what would be a hotpatch with 20 minute mud? Is there no sanding between coats? Or is it one really nice coat or two? I patch the fist holes with a piece of drywall, mesh tape, and two coats of mud, but have been using the light +3 stuff. It takes me two trips and then the final sanding is done before I paint.

Happy painting, Paul.

If this fist hole repair was during the course of a bigger job, I might do it for $60 no painting.....If it WAS the job....$150. and there would be no second trip. Makr the repair...hit it with hot mud, go get lunch, wet sand, final smoothing with knife. done. 2 hours max.

Here on the left coast....

Repair of nothing more than a fist hole is all about travel time & expense.

The patch is not worth more than $65

Basically it's a losing proposition, but I do them pretty much as a means of direct advertising. Who knows, maybe something more substantial might come up.
