Securing Things Of Value

Anyone ever put a clause in contract concerning securing things of value? I'm thinking of the possibility of bogus claims for missing money, jewelery, etc. This might be made by ho or maybe someone in the family has a drug habit that has to be supported in any way possible in their eyes. Sound like a good idea?

Yes, very good idea. I see this on jobs all the time, hence I took the pic.

Re: Securing Things Of Value

When I see weird things like cash laying out in plain sight, I immediately think that I'm being setup, and I think "nannycam". I'd certainly never take it, but I do kinda get sore about the fact that someone would even set me up like that. (naturally, the "setup" may well only exist in my imagination). I mostly do service calls, so there's no real "contract" to protect me in any case. So far, so good. We'll leave it up to the police or the insurance company to sort out if there's ever an issue. Sorry, I know this is in the painting forum, but it was a question that was hard to resist.

Yep.
Md, what I am asking about applies to more than just painters. I appreciate the reply.

Never know if it is a setup or what. I remember once my mom loaned a jacket to someone. She or he felt something in one of the pockets. It was $3000.00 she had forgotten about putting there. If it had not been noticed then, it would never have shown up. So it may be that they are just not thinking. A clause such as this just might bring it to mind for them so it can be removed and secured.

I feel the same way. I've come across cash that is laying in plain view and it makes me mad. I'm not so sure I've been set up either though, it just feels like it. There are a lot of idiots out there though that are just careless.

I detail cars once in a while and always find money left in there. No wonder thieves brake into cars. On one occasions I found over $250 scattered in in a BMW . I figured I better start charging more if money doesn't matter to these people.

Awe... you shouldn't have told me that. Now I'll absolutely have to do that. Slap down an extra five or something. That would throw them for a loop if it was a setup.

That reminds me. I got pulled over in Bucks County about 15 years ago, and accidentally (honest) got my emergency hundred dollar bill stuck in with my insurance and registration card I handed the police officer. When he came back with my warning ticket, he gave me back the twenty that must have gotten mixed in with my papers. I had a hard time keeping a straight face while we finished up. I laughed so hard for the next couple of miles down the road.

My goofy mistake . Tried to stop the send for some reason, and my post disappeared. Not knowing it had posted, I reposted. Sorry about that. Surprised that has not already been mentioned. I guess it has happened to others and they had an idea.
