Sales

When it comes to painting, there isnt much I havent learned and Ive never done anything yet that I couldnt learn. But when it comes to sales it seems liek my mend goes blank. As far as individual sales and phone ups, I dont really have a problem. Its the commercial side that im not familier with.
How do you aproach real estate companies and property management companies to get get business? Is it better by phone , mail or in person?
How do you know when where and who to talk to when you see construction going on?

One thing I would really like to know is how to approach GC's in new subdivisions.

Im just a painter that got tired of working for the man. I know it going to take some time to get my business running, thats why I am needing help so when I go get the next job I have a better chance at getting the work.

A lot of times in commercial construction when you see a building going up, it's too late. Sub-contracts are already signed. The easiest way to start bidding to new general contractors is to call and ask to be placed on their bid list. They will typically ask you to send over company info and contact information. Start bidding to a few of them and eventually you will get some work.
