Resisiion

Whispers of recession stem from housing slump
Slump hits other areas, making life difficult in Southwest Florida.

Anyone else feeling the pinch from a very slow housing market?

All of the Professional Painting Contractors I know who charge for there work. have had a very slow year, myself as well.

Re: Resisiion

I look at it like this... I am from Cleveland, Ohio in Cleveland there will be $20,000,000 worth of painting for that year in that area. Well how much of that do I want or can we get done... then we go after it. The work is there for repaints or remodels just not new stuff IMO. To me its like the book who moved my cheese... the cheese is there you just have to find it, maybe improvise, or slightly change a few things. cut cost where applicable, but the work is there. Profit margins are down for everyone in any field all across America. Its the war, and economy that is hurting everyone. My only suggestion would be try to think creative, network, and maybe opperate in a slightly different direction. Hang tough this too shall pass

I ve been in business since 1978, painting since 1974. RePaints is really what we go after, very very hard to get.

I hear what you are saying, but location makes a big differnce. Right now the work is not there unless you want to work for peanuts.

There is more commerical work but thats a whole other can of worms.

Thanks for the feedback. This to shall pass??? are you a friend of Bill W.

I read who moved my cheese, sorry but not impressed.

We are up over 30% for the year with even better margins. However, I'm in one of the fastest growing, and nicest, counties in the US. We are turning down work on a regular basis.
